Family Law for Mental Health Professionals Training
Counselors, therapists, social workers, school counselors, teachers and mental health professionals are in a unique position to help families manage the chaos of divorce. These families NEED your guidance and support, but it's hard to know how to help if you are under-informed or confused about the divorce process. Here is your opportunity to learn more about the actual legal procedures involved in the divorce process in both Illinois and Missouri.
Taught by Marta J. Papa, a highly experienced and sought after divorce attorney, mediator and trainer, this course will guide you through the legal maze of divorce, explaining the steps and key legal terms along the way. You will leave this class with an in-depth knowledge of the legal procedures involved in the divorce process......knowledge that will allow you to better guide and encourage your clients, students, co-workers or friends who may be facing divorce. This course meets the Missouri Family Law Training requirement to be included on St. Louis County's Approved Mediator List. It has also been approved for 12 hours of CEU credits. The cost for this course is $300.00.

40-Hour Divorce Mediation Training
Join mediation trainer Marta Papa for a highly interactive training session in Family Mediation. This course is designed to provide participants with a clear understanding of the role of mediator as it differs from that of legal advocate, judge and counselor. The dynamic five day training schedule will include videotaped demonstrations, lectures and discussions as well as numerous opportunities for role-play and coaching. We will discuss alternative dispute resolution strategies, domestic violence issues, financial and custody matters, and family dynamics. Each participant will receive a detailed course manual. The cost for this course is $1200.00 ($1240.00 for Illinois Attorneys).
Completion of the 40-Hour (5-day) course meets the requirements of Illinois Supreme Court Rule 99 and Missouri Supreme Court Rule 88 to be a court-approved mediator (local requirements may vary).

Advanced Mediation Training
Participants of the 12-Hour Advanced Mediation Training practice mediating all the issues of a complex divorce from beginning to end. This two-day course will enable the trainee to prepare all documents necessary to complete mediation, including the drafting of filing documents, a proposal notebook, parenting plan, child support calculations and a memorandum of understanding. Course materials include a sample mediator notebook, a mediation client notebook and a CD of all the relevant forms needed to start a mediation practice. The simulated mediation will address domestic violence issues and the screening techniques used to determine whether mediation may be inappropriate for a couple due to abuse, addictions or mental illness. We will also examine complicated financial and tax issues including IRS rules governing maintenance. The cost for this course is $750.00 ($764.00 for Illinois Attorneys).

Advanced Custody Mediation Training
Participants of the two-day Advanced Custody Mediation Training will cover in-depth topics such as Choosing the Right Style for Custody Mediation, Conflict Resolution for Child Custody Cases, Anger Management Techniques, Dealing with High Conflict Clients and How to Mediate Custody When the Parties Have Reached and Impasse. This training is eligible for 10 hours of CEU credit. The cost for this training is $300.00 ($314.00 for Illinois Attorneys).
